Meet The Founder

Fiona Magnus

Hello, I'm Fiona,
Founder of
UNMASKED Studios.

Creating UNMASKED has been a dream of mine for more than 25 years. It began as an idea to create a safe and joyful space where young people could explore acting, imagination and human behaviour, and it has now become a reality.

In my twenties I spent more than five years studying drama, developing my skills in acting while also exploring writing, producing and directing. I was also fortunate to spend several years immersed in creative communities across the globe, including Los Angeles, where I continued to explore my craft and deepen my understanding of performance and storytelling. Creativity and performance have always been a natural part of who I am.

Alongside my creative work, I built a successful career in HR and Talent Engagement & Development, helping individuals recognise their strengths, develop confidence and grow their communication and leadership capabilities. During this time I became increasingly fascinated by how people think, communicate and connect, and how creativity can unlock confidence, courage and authentic expression.

More recently, I have continued to deepen my learning across both dramatic arts and human development, studying at NIDA and completing further training at La Trobe University in neurodivergent teaching.

As a mother of two young children in early primary school, moving to Barwon Heads created the opportunity to pause and realign with what matters most to me. It became clear that I wanted to build a space where people feel safe to explore who they are, develop confidence and discover their voice, not for an organisation or societal expectations.

UNMASKED Studios brings together these experiences. It is a place where acting, creativity and human behaviour meet — supporting children, teens and adults to explore expression, develop confidence and connect with others.

At UNMASKED we celebrate that people experience the world in different ways. Neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals all bring unique strengths, perspectives and ways of learning. Through dramatic arts we create space for everyone to explore, express themselves and connect in ways that feel authentic to them.

My hope is that UNMASKED becomes a place where people feel seen, supported and inspired to unmask their voice, celebrate who they are and step forward with confidence and authenticity.

Because sometimes the most powerful transformation happens when we simply allow ourselves to be who we truly are.
